FAQs

General

What are the ingredients in VitalFuel? +

Banana purée, coconut water, and potassium sorbate. That's the entire label. Two functional ingredients plus a food-safe preservative that keeps it shelf-stable without refrigeration. No proprietary blends, no hidden additives, nothing you need a chemistry degree to identify.

Is there any added sugar? +

No. Zero added sugar. The sweetness comes entirely from the natural sugars already present in ripe banana purée — glucose and fructose the way fruit contains them, not the processed versions. Nothing added, nothing concentrated.

What's potassium sorbate and why is it in there? +

Potassium sorbate is a widely used, food-safe preservative found in everyday products like yogurt, dried fruit, and cheese. Without it, banana purée in a sealed packet would spoil before it reached you. It doesn't affect taste, performance, or gut comfort — it just keeps the product shelf-stable. We put it on the label because we put everything on the label. That's the whole point.

Does it contain caffeine or stimulants? +

No caffeine, no stimulants, nothing that spikes your heart rate or disrupts sleep. The energy comes from real fruit carbohydrates — not a stimulant stack.

Is VitalFuel gluten-free, vegan, and non-GMO? +

All three. Gluten-free, vegan, non-GMO. No artificial flavors, no artificial colors, and no preservatives beyond the potassium sorbate already listed above.

Are there any allergens I should know about? +

No gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, or tree nuts. Banana is the primary ingredient — if you have a known banana allergy or sensitivity, this product isn't for you. For any specific allergy concern beyond that, reach out directly at hello@vitalfuelgel.com

For Kids & Parents

Is VitalFuel safe for kids? +

Yes. Banana and coconut water are real food ingredients that kids already eat every day. No caffeine, no added sugar, no artificial flavors, nothing synthetic. If your kid can eat a banana, they can have VitalFuel. As with any new food, check with your pediatrician if your child has specific dietary concerns, allergies, or medical conditions.

Will my kid actually eat it? +

Most kids like banana. That's the honest answer — it tastes like a banana smootie because it is a banana. If your kid has a strong aversion to banana flavor, this probably isn't the right fit, and we'd rather say that now than have you find out at halftime. If they like bananas, smoothies, or banana-flavored anything, they'll eat it.

Does it have added sugar? +

No added sugar whatsoever. The sweetness comes entirely from the natural fruit sugars in the banana purée. No cane sugar, no syrup, no honey. For parents reading labels, this is the ingredient list: banana purée, coconut water, potassium sorbate. That's it.

Do I need to refrigerate it? +

No. Room-temperature stable, no ice pack needed. Throw a few packets in the bottom of a sports bag at the beginning of the week and forget about them until game day.

How is this better than just giving my kid a banana? +

Nutritionally, a real banana is great. The difference is entirely logistics. VitalFuel doesn't brown, doesn't bruise, doesn't need peeling, doesn't leave a sticky mess, and doesn't require a trash bin on the sideline. It goes from a sports bag to a kid's hand in two seconds. For parents already managing gear, water bottles, snack schedules, and game logistics, that frictionlessness is real value

How does it compare to other kids' sports snacks and drinks? +

Most popular sideline options — sports drinks, fruit pouches, gummies, flavored granola bars — contain added sugar, artificial colors, or both. VitalFuel has neither. If you're already reading ingredient labels on what your kids eat, you'll recognize immediately why this list is different. Two ingredients. Both of them things you'd recognize in a grocery store.

How much should I give my kid during a game or practice? +

One packet per activity is a reasonable starting point for most kids. For longer or more intense sessions — full-day tournaments, back-to-back games — two packets spaced out through the day is appropriate. You're replacing the fruit and hydration you'd normally pack anyway, just in a cleaner, more portable format.
